Undergraduate Research Opportunities
Undergraduate students can perform research with TAM faculty and graduate students. Recent projects include building powered walking robots, theoretical study of insect flight, analysis of carbon nanotube oscillators and testing of Space Shuttle pressure vessels. Many of our former undergraduate researchers have gone on to do great things, so think about joining us to jump start your engineering career!
You may perform research for course credit or for pay - but not both (at least at the same time). If the project has a significant design element it may be useable to satisfy your senior capstone design requirement. Academic year and summer positions are available. There are several programs at Cornell that may be able to provide financial support for your project. For example:
or contact individual faculty about positions.
Undergraduate Majors in T&AM
Yes, undergraduates can major in TAM - through the Independent Major Program. This option allows you to tailor your course of study to your particular interests. You can take advantage of the TAM faculty's special expertise in nonlinear dynamics, chaos, mathematical modeling, bioengineering, and other areas.
