We are a graduate department with 14 faculty and about 30 PhD students. In addition to our graduate curriculum, we also teach basic math and mechanics to other majors in the engineering college.
Our research often tends more towards Science, Engineering concepts and Applied Mathematics than direct engineering applications. Research tools include mechanics experiments, analytical mathematical solutions and computer simulations.
Some buzzwords associated with TAM research include: dynamics, dynamical systems, chaos, networks, solid mechanics, materials research, fracture, composites, adhesion, granular flow, planetary rings, robotics, biomechanics, bio-mathematics, locomotion and insect flight.
